授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
□Course Objectives
AE is a content-based course. Students are expected to develop an understanding of the course topic set by each instructor throughout the semester. As they develop their understanding of the course topic, students will conduct research and present their findings and opinions in writing and/or speaking.
□Content
First, you are going to learn how to construct an academic argument with a clear thesis statement supported by strong evidence, and present it in class. Second, you are going to take part in debates on various social issues. This is aimed at learning to look at issues from different perspectives. Finally, based on the skills you have developed, you will take a step toward your graduation research next year by writing a short research paper on a topic of your choice.

□Reading & Discussion
・read and evaluate texts in social sciences and humanities
・express oneʼs opinions about the course topic in a discussion constructively
□Individual/Group Projects
・conduct independent research
・present the result of a project effectively in oral or/and written forms in a
format designated by the instructor. This may include but is not limited to
research paper and presentations.
Class is taught and participated in English.
