授業の目的・内容 /Course Objectives |
This course explores contemporary issues in modern society. Students will examine and discuss the constantly changing social issues around us. By engaging with English texts across multiple fields, including the economy and work, culture and society, language and learning, and science and technology, students will build academic knowledge and learn to express and evaluate ideas effectively in English. This course emphasizes the integrated development of reading, listening, speaking, and writing. By the end of the course, students will be able to read and analyze English texts on contemporary issues, express ideas logically and persuasively in discussions, and apply critical thinking skills to evaluate arguments and perspectives. | ||||||||||

授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 /Teaching method and Attention the course |
The course is conducted in an interactive, discussion-based format, and regular attendance and consistent preparation are required. Active participation in discussions, including respectful listening and constructive responses, will be reflected in the grade. Classes include student-led small-group discussions to check understanding of assigned readings, followed by topic-based discussions each week. Course materials, announcements, and assignments will be provided through manaba and in class. Feedback from the instructor will be provided via manaba and during class sessions. |

事前・事後学修の内容 /Before After Study |
Students are expected to spend approximately four hours per week on reading of the assigned text and vocabulary clarification including in-class and out-of-class study. Students are expected to prepare for each class by completing the assigned readings and coming ready to discuss the topic every week. Students are also expected to conduct weekly research in advance to deepen their understanding of each topic and articulate their ideas in discussions. | ||||||||||
