授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This course will enable students to master basic paragraph structuring through a process approach to academic writing. Areas covered will include generating ideas, organizing, drafting and reviewing essays

In addition to regular homework assignments, students will be expected to produce a number of reports on subjects of their own choosing. Regular use of an electronic dictionary and access to a computer to type and upload completed writing assignments are essential
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
This class will be taught face-to-face on campus, with writing & grammar exercise completed during lesson time, while report assignments will be set as homework.

Various writing skills will be covered week by week, using the text book. Relevant grammatical patterns will also be practiced in preparation for the subsequent report.

Students will be free to choose their own topics about which to write, and will be able to brainstorm ideas & list supporting points in preparation. However, the report will be completed as homework and be expected to be printed or uploaded before the deadline.

評価方法
/Evaluation
・Classroom Participation (20%): Active participation in class discussions, group work, and peer review sessions will be evaluated.
・Assignments (20%): Various assignments will be given throughout the semester, including essay drafts, outlines, and sentence structure practice.
・Essays (30%): All essays must be submitted by the specified deadlines. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Proper citation and original writing are required in all essays.
    Final Timed Report Evaluation (30%): To combat the use of AI & translation software, the final report will be handwritten in class within a set time
