授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	This course is a comprehensive survey of American history and culture, introducing students to the diversity of the United States, still today's primary superpower. Materials include documentaries, movies, songs, TV programs, audio recordings, primary sources, and other historical materials. Lectures will be in college-level English. Topics: Pre-European North America; colonial period through independence; development as a nation with emphasis on ethnic groups and cities; technological innovation; and modern popular culture. Format: Lectures in English with discussions. Students are expected to participate actively. Note: Class capacity may be capped at 40 students. 本講義は、アメリカの歴史と文化を包括的に概観し、今日の超大国であるアメリカ合衆国の多様性を紹介します。教材はドキュメンタリー、映画、音楽、テレビ番組、音声記録、一次資料、その他の歴史資料を使用します。講義は大学レベルの英語で行います。 トピック：ヨーロッパ人到来以前の北米、植民地時代から独立まで、民族集団と都市に焦点を当てた国家としての発展、技術革新、現代のポップカルチャー。 形式：英語での講義とディスカッション。学生は積極的に参加することが求められます。 注：定員40名を上限とする場合があります。
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	Lectures and discussions. Feedback about assignments will be given either by email or in-class comments. Students are expected to participate actively in discussions. Assignments: Weekly note-taking and summaries; one or two short essays; state report and presentation; final essay (written in class) or final report. Weekly homework: 1–2 hours. 講義とディスカッション形式。課題へのフィードバックはメールまたは授業内コメントで行います。学生はディスカッションに積極的に参加することが求められます。 課題：毎週の授業内容をノートに記入・要約、小エッセイ（1〜2本）、州レポート・プレゼン（自分で選んだ州について）、最終回のエッセイ（教室で執筆）または期末レポート。毎週の平均学修時間：1〜2時間

事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	After each class, review the materials introduced by the teacher. If there are assigned materials, read them before the next class. As written above, students must take notes and make notes weekly , as well as write 1-2 short essays, a state report/presentation (on the state of your choice), and a final essay (written in class) or a final report. 毎週のクラス終了後、講義中に先生が紹介した資料を復習すること。先生が特に指定した資料がある場合は、次回の授業までにそれも読むこと。課題：毎週の授業内容をノートに記入・要約、小エッセイ（1〜2本）、州レポート（自分で選んだ州について）、最終回のエッセイ（教室で執筆）または期末レポート。

評価方法 ／Evaluation	Grading: 33.3% attendance/participation, 16.7% short essays, 33.3% state report & presentation, 16.7% final essay. Attendance: 5+ absences = disqualified (Ministry of Education rule). Late (within first 30 min) = "1/3 absent" (3 lates = 1 absence). AI Policy: Do not use AI for essays or reports! Penalty up to 20 points; serious cases may result in expulsion from the university. 成績配分：出席・参加  33.3%、小エッセイ  16.7%、州レポート・プレゼン  33.3%、期末エッセイ16.7%。 出席：5回以上欠席＝単位取得不可（文科省規定）。30分以内の遅刻＝「1/3欠席」（3回で1欠席）。 AI方針：エッセイやレポートにAI使用禁止！違反は最大20点減点、重大な場合は退学処分も考えられる。
