授業の目的・内容 /Course Objectives |
This course is designed to help students develop both concrete and conceptual understandings of 'multicultural coexistence (tabunka kyōsei)' by examining Japan and other societies across the past, present and future. Drawing on multidisciplinary literature (e.g., sociology, education, human geography, urban studies), the course encourages students to engage critically with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) from an intersectional perspective, attending to how multiple social positions (e.g., nationality, ethnicity, disability, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic background) intersect in everyday life. While issues of immigration are addressed, the course deliberately moves beyond a migration-centred framework to explore broader forms of social difference and inequality. Students are further introduced to the practice of the Human Library, in which they listen informally to people who are often subject to prejudice in society (e.g., people with disabilities, refugees). Through this interactive course, students are encouraged to deepen their understanding of diversity and reflect on what it means to live together in pluralistic societies. | ||||||||||
