授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This course aims to develop students' systematic expertise in qualitative research methods applied to language, culture, and education studies.

In language education and research, qualitative approaches are increasingly vital for understanding learners' "experiences," "perceptions," and "cultural contexts" beyond numerical data. Through reading qualitative research papers in English, students will master methodologies such as interviews, observation, and discourse analysis.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
This course will be conducted face-to-face on campus. The course will combine lectures, guided reading of qualitative research papers, and class discussions. Students will read and analyze research articles written in English and examine how researchers design qualitative studies, collect data, and interpret findings. Key qualitative methods such as interviews, observation, and discourse analysis will be introduced and discussed.

Students are expected to complete the assigned readings before class and actively participate in discussions and analytical activities. Feedback on assignments and class activities will be provided with evaluation rubrics, which will help students understand the criteria for qualitative analysis.
