授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	This course is designed to help students gain a fresh understanding of Japanese society by focusing on issues related to prejudice and discrimination in contemporary Japan. It provides students with opportunities to experience the world of people who are subjected to prejudice, as well as to analyse its psychological, sociological, and educational dimensions. Students are also invited into the world of the ‘Human Library’, in which they will listen informally to people who are susceptible to prejudice in society (e.g. people with disabilities, sexual minorities, refugees, and disaster victims) in order to gain different perspectives on prejudice and life in general. This course is highly recommended for students who want to (re)discover Japan from a co-cultural perspective and consider its global implications, and, more importantly, to discover their unknown selves through dialogue and the critical reading of scholarly journal articles.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	アクティブ・ラーニングの手法に基づき、学習者中心の授業を行います。リーディング、ライティング、ディスカッションなど、こなさなければならない課題は多いですが、（世界で通用する）高度な学力・英語力を身に着けるための「通過点」として本講義をご利用いただければ幸いです。本講義は、可能な限り英語を使いますが、講義内容の理解を高めるため、日本語も使用します。教材・資料は全て英語です。

事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	毎週約４時間の事前・事後学修が必要です。学修負担は決して軽くありませんが、国際的な水準を意識した内容となっています。学生には、10数本の学術論文を含むすべての教材・資料を読むこと、毎週エッセイを書くこと、そしてグループ研究をはじめとする課題に、他の学生と協力しながら取り組むことが求められます。
