授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	The goal of this course is to develop students writing abilities in English, beginning with basic personal essays and moving  to those with more of an academic focus. Overall Objectives 1. To provide an overview of what constitutes a 'good' essay. 2. To learn how to properly format a typed essay. 3. To understand various patterns of essay organization. 4. To play, write, and revise essays. 5. To learn how to reference sources correctly. 6. To improve writing at the sentence level and expand vocabulary.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	This will be conducted in seminar style, where we will examine the textbook and discuss its contents. Students will work in pairs and small groups at times and engage in individual writing at others. We will complete all of the chapters in this textbook this semester.

事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	After each class, complete any exercise that was not covered in class (30 minutes). Students will be assigned weekly homework, which will include exercises from the online workbook and various writing assignments from first to final drafts (1-3 hours).
