授業の目的・内容 /Course Objectives |
Building on Reading and Writing Skills II, this compulsory course advances the academic reading and writing through more complex grammar, expanded vocabulary, and the analysis of other writing organizational patterns like cause/effect and narratives. Students will learn to make high-level inferences, APA citations, and navigate scholarly texts using signaling verbs. By engaging in the full writing process, from timed in-class drafting to polished revisions, students will develop the formal style, source-integration skills, and speed necessary for both university-level essays and standardized exams. |

授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 /Teaching method and Attention the course |
Students engage in a student-centered approach through guided reading and writing activities, collaborative tasks, and peer feedback. Writing is treated as a process that includes planning, drafting, revising, and editing. The course includes two essays over the semester covering diverse text types such as compare/contrast, cause/effect, expository, or narrative. For each essay, the first draft will be written by hand in class as a timed exercise and submitted. After receiving feedback and applying APA guidelines for citations and referencing, students revise and submit a clearly formatted, typed final draft. Peer feedback is incorporated throughout the process to help students build skills and confidence in academic writing. |
