授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	The aim is to give students a course in “film and Anglophone culture”, as they might experience at a university in an English speaking country. The course examines Anglophone culture and society through film. Time will be spent in class watching and critically analyzing films as a window into Anglophone culture and society. The course will cover several themes such as race and racism, war, Sci-Fi, LGBTQ+, etc. and watch films from a variety of genres and eras in relation to these themes. Each film will be watched in its entirety over two weeks. The films listed in the schedule are tentative and may change during the course. This course focuses on improving students’ "listening" and "reading" skills and their "competence to think critically in English," as stated in DP, 2. Overall objectives are "to obtain a comprehensive English proficiency," as stated in the CP.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	This course will be taught face-to-face, though all course materials are available on a website where you can also watch the films. Students are expected to spend time out of the class watching the films each week, as well as completing reading and writing tasks..

事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	Reading articles related to the films and course themes (x5) (30 minutes). Watch the films outside of class via the course website (1 hour each week). Make short videos with the Flipgrid app after watching each film (x5). Write film review sheets (x5) (1 hour). Complete the Independent Study report at the end of the course (2 hours).
