授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This course is designed to help students interested in language and language learning to better understand the English language. In this semester we will trace English's journey across the globe in the wake of British imperialism, following it to India, Australia, and elsewhere. By reading and discussing the text material, including pre-reading and post-reading activities to enhance the reader’s comprehension, it is hoped that students will come away from this course with a better understanding of the English language today.

One chapter from the text will be covered over two classes. The first week of class will focus on the content of the chapter, starting with reading and analysis of the assigned text material. This will be followed by reviewing and checking the homework assignments together. Any remaining class time will be used for in-class activities. The second week of class will focus on a deeper recognition of the material covered through supplementary activities such as vocabulary work and visual material. Assignment feedback will be provided in class on an ongoing basis.
