授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	▼ ドイツ語学科・フランス語学科・経済学部・法学部1~4年生を対象とする全カリ英語部門の選択科目です。 ▼ TOEIC400点以上を受講生の英語力の目安としますが、積極的に英語を使い授業に参加する努力ができる学生であればその限りではありません。 ▼ English Explorationsというこの科目では、言語や社会に関するひとつのテーマについて1学期間「英語で」学ぶことにより、テーマに関する理解を深め、英語力と思考力を伸ばします。 ▼ コンテントiiiのテーマは「Critical Thinking in English」です。Critical thinkingは毎日の生活でも重要なスキルですが、特に大学での学びと研究、さらに職業生活では不可欠な思考法です。授業では英語でCritical thinking に関する基本用語と概念を理解し、身近な題材を使って、議論や主張とその論拠を批判的に分析する練習をします。次のアカデミック英語スキルを伸ばします。(1) academic vocabulary, (2) analytical reading and writing (3) listening, (4) discussion, and (5) individual/group presentation.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	▼ 授業形式・方法：対面授業を基本とします。 ▼ 授業の使用言語：英語を基本とします。必要に応じて日本語を使う場合があります。 ▼ manabaを使って学習活動、資料配布、課題提出、ディスカッションなどをします。 ▼ 課題にはスケジュール通りに取り組み、クラスメートと活発に意見交換することが求められます。 ▼ 課題や学習タスクへの教員フィードバック形式：授業中の解説やmanaba上でのコメント
事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	▼毎週、教科書の練習問題やライティング（manabaへの投稿）などの宿題があります（約１時間）。 ▼宿題や課題の情報は、毎回の授業で指定されますので、欠席した場合も必ずmanabaで確認し、準備した上で次の授業に参加してください。
