– UK Culture  & Society This is an intermediate-level content based course which seeks to: a) offer students an overview of British society & people b) improve students’ analytical abilities towards foreign & native cultures c) broaden students’ communicative abilities via listening practice around a variety of topics In addition to viewing UK culture video material, students will study related reading materials and vocabulary. In addition, students need to make a 7 - 15 minute presentation and submit a 1,500+ word report comparing a topic from Japanese & British culture, during the semester.  |

This class will be taught face-to-face on campus, with presentations, reading & report assignments set as homework. All listening & reading materials will be available to students online for both in-class work, homework assignments & review. Preview questions, vocabulary exercises, listening practice, and pair-work comprehension questions will be conducted during classtime, with post-viewing discussion incorporated as time permits. Students will also need to upload their PowerPoint presentation & comparison report by the set deadlines.  |

事前・事後学修の内容                         /Before After Study  | 
                      In addition to regular reading assignments, students will be expected to prepare their individual PowerPoint presentations during the course, and then to prepare their comparative/contrast report about a topic from UK & Japan/their own country. Both presentation & report topics can be decided by the student under the instructor's guidance. | ||||||||||
