授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	To study a variety of topics in English, allowing students to not only improve their English language skills but also give them new ideas and information. This course develops English academic skills, which will also be of use to students in their future careers. The course aims to: 1 Develop vocabulary learning strategies, reading and listening skills through working with audiovisual and written material. 2 Practice and develop writing and speaking skills through individual, pair work and group work activities. Understand the structure of academic essays (sentences, paragraphs and essays) and produce two essays through a process of planning, writing a first draft, receiving feedback from the instructor and peers, which is then used to produce a final well-structured and well-formatted essay in English.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	This is a student-centred class, and students will gradually develop confidence as they learn to work in pairs and groups to perform tasks set by the instructor. These tasks will include working on the tasks in the textbook and additional materials and providing feedback to each other during the essay writing tasks.
事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	Students are expected to work on acquiring the vocabulary introduced in class and review the materials. If preparation for the next class is assigned, students are expected to do it.
