授業の目的・内容 /Course Objectives |
We focus on key elements that have shaped Japan as a modern nation state such as civil rights movements, industrialization and militarization, totalitarian dictatorship, American democracy, economic 'miracle' and its meltdown, leading up to the post-Fukushima and with-covid society, by reading and discussing the works of the poets which best reflects their respective age and society. | ||||||||||

授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 /Teaching method and Attention the course |
This course will be held face to face in the classroom (対面), The class activities will include reading poem texts in the original Japanese along with the English translation, discussion, and workshops. Students are expected to actively participate in the class discussion and share the knowledge and experiences concerning the class topics in her own cultural background. A brief "reaction paper" should be written after each class, discussing the most important learnings and insights from the class. At the end of the semester, a longer "report" should be written summarizing the essential elements of this course. |
