授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This course aims to help students enhance their academic writing skills by guiding them through the process of composing a research essay on a self-selected topic. Students will learn how to locate and select appropriate sources, synthesize and organize relevant information, and construct and support a clear thesis statement. The course will follow a gradual and structured approach to developing the final essay, with regular feedback and assessment from the instructor and peers.

/Teaching method and Attention the course
This is a practical course in writing conducted as The main assignment for this course is a 2000-word research paper on a self-chosen topic. The course will cover each stage of the writing process in detail and involve collaborative activities to help students develop an engaging and original essay. The course will also set and monitor specific milestones, such as topic selection, thesis statement, outline, and first draft, and provide feedback and assessment on each of them. Students will have opportunities to receive individual guidance from the instructor as well as written comments on their writing.
事前・事後学修の内容
/Before After Study
Students will be responsible for reading and understanding the assigned textbook pages each week (about 10 pages), as well as preparing periodic written assignments (2 to 3 hours per week.) A first draft and final essay must also be prepared and typed. (10-15 hours total)
