授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This course involves situational activities in a fictional advertising company.

The aim of this course is to provide opportunities to practice business writing skills to help students in their future workplace.

By the end of the course, you will have experienced simulations of real-world business tasks that will provide a window into an international business environment.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
There is no textbook for this course. The teacher will provide information, materials, and prompts for an environment to simulate possible scenarios from an internationally based English speaking advertising agency. The students make creative use of any tools available to them, including the internet, AI, and their own intellect to tackle the variety of tasks.

We will use manaba for mock inter-office emails. Also, the student will engage in various mini projects, such as creation of resumes with cover letters, participation in preparing marketing campaigns for various client companies, and other tasks related to daily office tasks.

Feedback from peers and the teacher will be incorporated, yet self-evaluations will be a major portion of the score for the class.

/Before After Study
The content of the course will vary based on the project at hand. Class time will be given for communication between the students and teacher to develop ideas and complete tasks. Emails through manaba will be used to simulate inter-office mail and memos. These may be written during or between class periods.

1 Introduction to the course We will discuss the basic plan of the class.
Discuss basics of business emails.
2 Cover letter and Resume (plan) Basic points to creating a cover letter and resume will be discussed
3 Cover letter and Resume (workshop) We will examine and discuss points based on our work for the resume
4 First client introduction (group work) The first step in developing an advertising campaign. Inter-office memos will be examined
5 Campaign brainstorm (first client) Discussion (through email) with colleagues about strategies for marketing.
6 Pitch meeting (first client) Presentation of ideas for marketing campaign
7 Audits and office issues Responding to client inquiries. Writing formal emails.
8 Second client introduction (group work) Discussing the ideal clients and how our talents can match their needs
9 Campaign brainstorm (second client) Discussion (through email) with colleagues about strategies for marketing.
10 Pitch meeting (second client) Presentation of ideas for marketing campaign
11 Mergers and downsizing Responding to a changing workplace. Discussing inter office memos.
12 Third client introduction (single work) Planning a pitch for a single person advertising campaign
13 Video pitch Submission of marketing campaign pitch through video presentation
14 Final submission and grade statement Redo cover letter and resume with new experiences
