授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This one-term, twice-a-week required class for first-year students develops basic presentation skills. Students learn the essential presentation skills they need to be able to give simple presentations in any of their other classes.

Overall Objectives:
1. To give students practical experience in utilizing their own physical message by
emphasizing the importance of eye contact, posture, gestures, voice volume, voice
inflection, and facial expressions* when giving a presentation and facing an audience.
2. To give students experience in using visual representation within their presentation, with
special emphasis on using charts and/ or graphs.
3. To build student confidence in speech communication in large and small contexts.
4. To help students develop a basic knowledge of organizing a speech and developing
speech writing skills.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
This course focuses on improving your basic presentation skills and building your confidence when talking in front of different groups and audiences. The courses focuses on the main features of good presentations including the physical message, the visual message, and the story message. The course also explores different types of presentations so that students get a lot of practice presenting their ideas in different ways utilising the key presentation skills that they focus on during the semester.

This is a face to face course. Classes will take place on campus.

There are no special applications required.
事前・事後学修の内容
/Before After Study
Most of the activities will be conducted within the 100-minute class period. At home, students will spend time preparing and practicing their presentations for class. Occasionally, students will have some practice tasks to complete for homework.
