Course Objectives |
Countries and regions worldwide share common challenges. In this course, entitled "Project Practice in Global Issues: Towards Sustainability", you will collaboratively address such global issues, in exploring and deepening your understanding through discussions and research. You will gain practical problem-solving experience in project management, focusing on specific issues based on personal interests and career plans. This year will focus on issues related to environment and climate change, identifying challenges (such as water shortage, flood, drought, natural disasters, CO2, food, forests, biodiversity, energy, resources, pollution, consumption, mobility). Collaborative projects will be undertaken by small teams throughout the semester. The semester's plan is: (Part I) you will identify a specific theme based on you interests, analyzing it from various perspectives and exploring domestic and overseas examples to guide your project; (Part II) then, you will develop projects offering solutions to the identified issues and will ultimately present your study orally and submit a concise report summarizing whole outcomes (one collective report for each team). ※Class conducted in both English and Japanese if international students in the course.

Teaching method and Attention the course |
The course format is PBL (Problem/Project-based learning). You advance one project with your team of 3 or 4 students (depending on the number of enrollments) towards a solution under the guidance of the instructor and with the assistance of a generative AI, engaging in discussions about your selected theme. It is recommended to bring a laptop or a tablet to work comfortably with teammates for advancing your project. You give presentations twice: one intermediary and the other final, lasting from 10 to 15 minutes. These presentations serve as opportunities for you to receive feedback while observing other presentations to enhance your project, as well as to develop the ability to provide constructive feedback. If you have any questions or encounter obstacles, feel free to seek advice from the instructor in class or on MANABA (also available via email). | ||||||||||
