授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This course aims to improve students' academic listening and note-taking skills.
Students will mainly practice a) predicting and supplementing keywords, b) listening to various pronunciations with syllables, liaisons, and word stress, c) acquiring note-taking strategies, and d) listening and giving short presentations.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
The course will be taught mainly in the classroom. Basic listening and note-taking skills are explained in a lecture style but students must participate actively in class discussions, formal presentations, and possible debate activities.
Students will use their computers to preview/review video clips provided in the textbook and submit assignments via manaba. The assignments will be reviewed and evaluated by the teacher and peer-reviewed by students.

The evaluation will be based on: Participation in class, presentations, assignments, and a final exam.
事前・事後学修の内容
/Before After Study
Students are required to preview the new topic and vocabulary before each class. Before the presentation week, they must conduct some research and prepare for lecture-style presentations.

The course aims at promoting independent learning so students are expected to spend up to four hours each week studying outside class.
