授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	This one-term required class helps first-year students learn how to improve their English language communication skills by introducing the organizational skills necessary to become a more competent speaker and writer. Overall Objectives 1. To help students to develop a basic knowledge of the skills required for organizing a speech and developing speech writing skills 2. To give students maximum opportunities to develop their speech delivery and speech writing skills 3. To build student confidence in speech communication in small and larger group contexts
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	Course lectures and materials will all be conducted in English. It is expected that student participation, assignments and so on will also be conducted in English. Tell me if you are having problems and I will give you individual help. There will be interactive lectures, pair and group work activities to develop skills for giving different types of speeches in this class.
事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	Students are expected to spend one hour after the class reviewing what was done in class and also preparing for the next class. If you are absent I expect you to contact me by email so that I can give you information on what we did in class and what you need to prepare for the next class.
