授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
The goal in the Writing Skills III course is to develop students’ writing and critical thinking abilities in English, progressing from production of shorter to longer academic texts, and from writing on familiar topics to writing about more complex and academic ones.
Overall Objectives
1. To provide an overview of what constitutes a ‘good’ essay
2. To help students understand various patterns of essay organization
3. To help students plan essays
4. To help students revise and edit their essays
5. To help students use a variety of sources
6. To help students develop computer literacy skills
7. To introduce the basics of referencing and creating a bibliography (MLA or APA styles)
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
The class will be conducted in a seminar style. We will examine the textbook and discuss its contents. Many of the weekly assignments will be done on Manaba.

Classroom time will be spend on discussion of the textbook and reviewing our weekly writing assignments. There will be a longer in-class writing project at the completion of each unit in the book. We will complete three units by the end of this course.

/Before After Study
Read the specified portion of the textbook and make note of specialized terms. Complete assignments in the textbook in that same portion. (1 hour)

Complete a shorter writing task each week. Submit writings to Manaba on the topic specified in class. (1 hour)
