授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This one-term, twice-a-week required class helps first-year students learn how to improve their English language communication skills by introducing the organizational skills
necessary to become a more competent speaker and writer.
Overall Objectives
1. To help students to develop a basic knowledge of the skills required for organizing a speech and developing speech writing skills
2. To give students maximum opportunities to develop their speech delivery and speech writing skills
3. To build student confidence in speech communication in small and larger group contexts
This course focuses on improving students’ "listening" and "speaking" skills and their "competence to think critically in English as well as hold discussions in English, without using Japanese," as DP 2. Overall object
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
This class will continue from the spring.  The latter half of the textbook will be used in the fall semester.  Student participation is required in this class.  Students are expected to participate actively in group discussions and pair activities.  Students are responsible for submitting assignments on time.  Students will receive written and verbal feedback for their homework and presentations.

Students are expected to:
-do the listening from the textbook before the class (30 minutes)
-do the reading from the textbook and answer the questions after the class (30 minutes)
-be prepared to do their presentations in class when assigned
