授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
In the fall term of this course the focus shifts to consider how immigration and immigrants causeeconomic, political, social and cultural shifts, within the receiving nation. Specifically, the fall termwill look at how immigrants, and their descendants, find a place in society and will consider policies related to: assimilation/incorporation, integration as it relates to education, language and multilingualism. Additionally, the course will consider shifting racial and ethnic identities and the questions that are raised with regard to nationhood and civic participation and the tensions that arise with an influx of immigrants and migrants into the receiving nation.

/Teaching method and Attention the course
The course is managed in a seminar style which means students are asked to discuss readings/ topics in small, as well as large groups, in an interactive style. The course does require students do the readings and homework in preparation for participation in these discussion and information sharing sessions.

Students will be required each week to complete the assigned reading and homework assignments in preparation for class participation
