授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	This one-semester course is compulsory for second-year students. Overall Objectives 1. To increase academic vocabulary and to further the development of vocabulary/vocabulary building skills in general 2. To automatize more accurate grammatical knowledge and recognize cohesive devices 3. To develop a better understanding of various styles and purposes of reading material 4. To develop effective reading skills (intensive reading, extensive reading, etc.) This course focuses on improving students’ "vocabulary," "grammar," "reading" skills and their "competence to think critically in English as well as hold discussions in English, without using Japanese" as stated in DP 2. Overall objectives are for students to acquire the basics of "written receptive skills" stated in the CP. 5. To introduce students to authentic texts/outside readers
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	この授業は、基本的に対面形式で行う。授業の録画やオンデマンド形式の授業は行わない。コロナ感染拡大の状況によっては、全面的にzoomライブ形式へと切り替える可能性がある。また可能な限りインタラクティブな授業を目指すため、ペア・ワークやグループ・ワークを多く用いる予定である。１つのユニットを２～３週間で進める予定である。
事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	多くの課題を出す予定である。やや難しい内容の教科書を扱うため、わからない単語や文章の意味が不明確である場合には十分に調べた上で授業に臨むこと。また、授業後は、テキストを読み返し、疑問点が残らないように復習すること。事前事後学習に約2時間を費やして欲しい。

評価方法 ／Evaluation	毎回のテスト10％、manabaのﾚﾎﾟｰﾄ機能を用いての課題提出10％、授業への貢献度１0％学期末試験70％の総合評価とする。欠席はいかなる理由であれ3回までとする。3回を超えての欠席は評価の対象としないので十分に気を付けること。
