授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This one-semester course is compulsory for first-year students.
Overall Objectives
1. To increase their vocabulary and strategies for grasping meaning of vocabulary in texts
2. To review grammar and cohesive devises
3. To develop basic reading skills and strategies (pre-reading, during reading and after reading strategies)
4. To develop comprehension strategies to understand reading materials without translating them into Japanese
5. To clarify the structure of a paragraph or essay (dependent on the level of the students)

/Teaching method and Attention the course
This class will be taught in the fashion of active learning. Therefore student participation in English  is especially important and prioritized.

/Before After Study
Students will be expected to do some reading, notetaking, research, writing, and preparation for speaking activities out of class depending on the day and situation.
