授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
 本授業は、経済学研究科博士前期課程の学位授与方針(DP)及び教育課程の編成実施方針(CP)が示す「経済分野における研究能力」、特に「経済社会の状況や制度、政策の意義を自ら調査しその背景を含めて理解する能力」と英語により「研究結果をわかりやすく説明できるコミュニケーション能力」を涵養するため、以下の講義を英語で行います。
Japanese economy has experienced great transformation in centuries. This class will examine Japanese economy and policies from theoretical and empirical perspectives, as the preparatory works for studies on International Public Policies, in spring session.
The world economies have experienced great transformation toward “globalization” in decades.This class will examine the international economies and the economic policies implemented from theoretical and empirical view points, in automn session.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
Lectures and discussions will be conducted in English. Summary PPTs and supplementary materials will be delivered at the class to assist the lectures.
PPT等を用いた「対面方式」の講義とし、履修者の英語力、経済学の知識に応じ、適宜日本語での解説も加えます。(特定のテキストは使用しません)
対面講義の中で、質疑応答、学生同士のディスカッションの時間を取ります。
事前・事後学修の内容
/Before After Study
事前学修:国際経済の学部レベルの知識を復習するとともに、経済英語に慣れておいてください。
事後学修:配布PPT等を基に講義を復習するとともに、関連トピックの研究を行ってください。
主体的学修ができるように、関連文献・URL等を講義で示します。
(事前事後学修の時間は1回の講義につき4時間程度)

/Evaluation
Students are expected to actively participate in the class. Class participation and contribution, as well as their final term paper of their own interest are evaluated (Class participation and contribution:60%, Final term paper:40%) . Questions and discussions on contemporary economic issues in English are highly welcome.

3 History of Japanese Economy(2)
(Edo era to WWII)
The students will grasp the history of Japanese economy from Edo era to WWII.
4 Economic Growth (1)
(Theories and Empirics)
The students will understand the theories and empirical results of economic growth.
5 Economic Growth (2)
(Japanese experience)
The students will grasp the Japanese experience from growth to slowdown after WWII.
6 Economic Growth (3)
(Stop growing)
The students will understand economic rationale why Japan stopped growing after 1970s and 90s.
7 Business Cycles and Economic Policies(1) (Theory) The students will understand the theories and empirical results on business cycles.
