授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This class will give you many opportunities to improve your skills and raise your confidence in speaking English in academic contexts. You will learn and practice communication strategies that will help you to share your ideas with your partners and to express yourself more clearly and naturally. Through listening practice and conversations with your classmates, you will also develop your listening skills. In class you will try to speak only in English, and will help your partners to do the same.

/Teaching method and Attention the course
Classes will be taught though Video on demand, online assignments, MAINLY through MYDOC and face to face campus lessons.

Students will be expected to spend approximately one hour per week completing homework, as well as, previewing or reviewing course content.

1 Week 1: Introduction Introductions and Guidelines Learners prepare for a short interaction speech and Q&A session with course mates. Preview unit 1.
2 Week 2: Unit 2 Discuss issues related money and map mapping. Preview/review money related vocabulary, expressions and issues.
3 Week 3: Unit 2 Focussing on money related collocations. Review unit 2 and preview unit 3.
4 Week 4: Unit 3 Discuss topical issues related with health and health related matters. Review discussion strategies.
5 Week 5: Unit 3 Asking follow up questions and giving advise. Review unit 3 and preview unit 4.
6 Week 6: Unit 4 Discuss education related issues. Preview/review education related vocabulary and issues.
7 Week 7: Mid-semester test Mid-term Presentations Review of units 2-4 and preview of unit 5.
8 Week 8: Unit 5 Discuss crime related issues in Japan and around the world. Review discussion strategies.
9 Week 9: Unit 5 Describing past experiences or reporting others’ experiences. Preview/review time expressions and related vocabulary.
10 Week 10: Unit 6 Discuss environment related issues and the changing government policies. Research various government policies and how they affect our environment.
11 Week 11: Unit 6 Short presentation: How can we protect our environment? Prepare and practice for the short presentation.
12 Week 12: Unit 8 Discuss interesting world histories. Learners prepare to discuss and share an interesting world fact that they know with other course mat
13 Week 13: Final Assessment Final presentation Prepare and practice for the final presentation.
14 Week 14:Review and Feed back session Learners will have a feedback session and a review of the semester. Learners will continue to develop the skills acquired os far and prepare for the Spring semester.
