/Course Objectives
In this course, we will look at how current issues are portrayed in the genre of science fiction.
Science fiction is not only about robots and space travel, but is also known for asking important questions about the future and what it means to be human. Through readings, short films, and class discussions, students will take a critical look at the present while learning to organize and discuss their ideas about problems in the world today.
Students are required to keep a reflection journal for class discussion as well as take part in group and individual presentations. The reflection journal will contain a review of target language and vocabulary. In-class assignments and short quizzes will also be given to assess progress and comprehension.
