授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	This course will look into social issues such as poverty, environmental protection, population and gender roles through listening to popular music, discussions, and reading related articles. The two main goals of the course are to raise awareness about social matters and world events that influence cultures, and to further prepare students for communicating in an increasingly global society.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	The lessons will be constructed in three parts: 1) preview of the topics, 2) input of the main ideas through reading & sharing materials, and 3) presentation of students' opinions through discussions, presentations, and debates. The course aims at promoting independent learning, for which students are expected to conduct research and explore social issues every week in order to deepen their understanding of the modern world.
