授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This course sets out to help students develop communicative competence through active discussion, and to help students develop their understanding of current affairs. We will look at what constitutes a discussion, and develop the skills necessary to maintain an active discussion. Students will be called upon to do research and prepare discussion topics based on what they read in the news outside of class. They are also required to maintain a course journal. This course has a strict English only policy. It is designed for students with a CEFR C1 or Eiken II level of proficiency. An online group discussion board will be maintained for this course. (Voicethread.com) Upon completion of this course, students will able to discuss various topics in English with higher level of confidence.

/Teaching method and Attention the course
Developing discussion skills and building awareness of domestic and international affairs. Advancing English fluency and vocabulary through reading and discussion activities. To ensure that students gain a higher level of fluency in communicative English while learning about the issues that face them in a globalized and developing world.

/Before After Study
Students need to prepare for class discussions by researching the topic and by gaining a full understanding of it in advance of class. They will also need to formulate their opinions and shape them for presentation.

5 Discussion on domestic affairs (1) Topic of discussion will conclude with summations
6 Discussion on domestic affairs (2) Topic overview and discussion
7 Round Up Students present topic and engage in discussion
8 Meaning of Citizenship Topic of discussion will conclude with summations
9 Discussion on international affairs (2) Topic overview and discussion
10 Being a World Citizen Students present topic and engage in discussion
