授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	The aims of this course are to promote critical thinking and to have extensive discussion about a variety of interesting and important contemporary issues. Students will learn the skills necessary for effective Group Discussions. The typical class will consist of small group discussions on a unit from the textbook to build vocabulary. Students will be required to study vocabulary regularly and will be exposed to authentic listening exercises in each unit. An eagerness to speak English and take responsibility for their own learning would be a bonus.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	In each class a portion of selected text will be studied. The first part of class will be dedicated to analyzing this text and discussing it. Then, the students will review, have their questions answered and homework will be checked. The remainder of class will be used for in-class assignments.
