授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	*** SPECIAL NOTICE: IN PERSON/ZOOM/RECORDED/ON DEMAND - hybrid course. Please use Manaba "Course News" (under "Courses") to get a detailed description and for all future news and information on the course. *** This one-term semi-elective course aims to further develop and build on language communication skills covered in Comprehensive English I/II and Reading Strategies I/II. The prerequisites for the Communication Skills are Comprehensive English I/II and Reading Skills I/II or a TOEIC score of 600 or above. Overall Objectives 1. Giving students maximum opportunity to practice and develop their communication skills; 2. To improve reading comprehension via critical analysis of text; 3. To foster student responsibility by involving students more directly in the learning process;
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	Materials: Text copy handouts, English Conversation Practice handouts, Discussion tests, Debate tests, graded readers. Use of handouts, textbook and short lectures, including student activities. Students will read and report on two Graded Readers that can be obtained from the university library. For example, in a typical lesson 15 min. will be devoted to student reading of Graded Readers; 20 minutes devoted to studying handouts; 20 minutes devoted to doing exercises from handouts; final part of class group discussions and teacher explanations of the next week's homework. In addition, it is encouraged that students bring their laptopcomputers to class as some homework assignments and email from teacher can be used online, even for in person classes. This will improve the overall quality of the class time.
