授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	The goal in the Writing Skills III course is to develop students’ writing and critical thinking abilities in English, progressing from production of shorter to longer academic texts, and from writing on familiar topics to writing about more complex and academic ones. Overall Objectives 1. To provide an overview of what constitutes a ‘good’ essay 2. To help students understand various patterns of essay organization 3. To help students plan essays 4. To help students revise and edit their essays 5. To help students use a variety of sources 6. To help students develop computer literacy skills 7. To introduce the basics of referencing and creating a bibliography (MLA or APA styles)
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	This class will be conducted face-to-face at the university unless the university instructs us to go online, so please come to class on the first day prepared for social distancing. In this semester we will begin with a review of academic writing and  short assignments on the basics. We will cover the first four chapters of the textbook and you will submit a first and final draft for each chapter's essay assignment.  Classes will begin with revision activities from the previous week and questions. We will then look at the tasks assigned from the previous week and complete them in class. I will also supplement the textbook with short lectures. Tasks and assignments for the following week will also be posted on Manaba so that you can keep up.
事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	Preview and review all materials given by the instructor before and after class and complete all assignments. It is important for students to correct their essays and resubmit them.
