授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
The goal in the Writing Skills III course is to develop students’ writing and critical thinking abilities in English, progressing from production of shorter to longer academic texts, and from writing on familiar topics to writing about more complex and academic ones.
Overall Objectives
1. To provide an overview of what constitutes a ‘good’ essay
2. To help students understand various patterns of essay organization
3. To help students plan essays
4. To help students revise and edit their essays
5. To help students use a variety of sources
6. To help students develop computer literacy skills
7. To introduce the basics of referencing and creating a bibliography (MLA or APA styles)
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
Each chapter of the textbook will take three or four weeks to complete. Classes will begin with explanation of a particular aspect of good writing: grammar, vocabulary, style, and text organization. Students will then complete written exercises to consolidate their knowledge. Extensive writing exercises may be given in class or for homework.
