授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	This one-term required class allows second-year students the opportunity to take the initiative and be directly involved in their own learning, as well as the learning of their classmates, by preparing their own presentation and leading subsequent class discussion based on the chosen topic. Overall Objectives 1. To foster student responsibility by involving students more directly in the learning process 2. To teach students how to prepare presentations 3. To give all students the opportunity to give a presentation and lead class discussion

事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	Please do homework assignments as soon as possible (the same day; or the next day). Waiting until the last minute to do assignments/homework (‘ichiyazuke’) is NOT a good way to prepare for classes.

評価方法 ／Evaluation	The instructor will use the ongoing assessment technique. You will be assessed often, on: how well you participate in class; how well you speak and elaborate (explain) in English, the ways in which you reason (think); how well you use the information taught to you; how well you work together with other class members; and so on. Your grade will be tentatively determined by: ongoing class assessments (approximately 35%); class participation (20%); and homework/test(s)/presentations (45%).
