授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	この授業では、英語学科のディプロマポリシー（DP)やカリキュラムポリシー（CP)が示す「英語の運用能力を養成し、英語圏の言語・文学・文化・社会・国際関係などを理解するための専門知識を身につ けた、国際的視野に立つ教養人を育成する」ことを念頭に置いたうえで、以下の目的を設定する。 This one-semester course is compulsory for second-year students. Overall Objectives 1. To increase academic vocabulary. 2. To automatize more accurate grammatical knowledge 3. To understand reading materials different in styles and contents. 4. To develop effective reading skills academic texts (intensive reading, extensive reading, using visual/lexical cues in academic texts). 5. To read outside readers which are enjoyable and can be read without using a dictionary. 6. To do some book research and make a reference list.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	様々な内容の英文を読みながら、英文を正確に理解する力をつけると同時に、それぞれの内容に関して自分の考えを表明できるようなクリティカル・リーディングを行う。 そして、小グループを作り、それぞれの考えを紹介しながら学生相互の批評を行い(ピア・アセスメント）、アクティブラーニングの形式をとる。 プレゼンテーションに関しては、評価基準にもとづいてその場でフィードバックを行う。 対面授業を基本とするが、新型コロナウィルスの状況によっては、ハイブリッド型授業(対面授業＋zoomライブオンライン授業)に切り替える可能性もある。
事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	授業前に各トピックに関する英文を読み、単語や熟語の下調べをしておくこと。授業後は、学んだ単語や熟語を例文と一緒に覚え、次週のミニテストや発表に備えること。事前学習・事後学習、それぞれ１時間が目安。
