授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	この授業では、英語学科のディプロマポリシー（DP)やカリキュラムポリシー（CP)が示す「英語の運用能力を養成し、英語圏の言語・文学・文化・社会・国際関係などを理解するための専門知識を身につ けた、国際的視野に立つ教養人を育成する」ことを念頭に置いたうえで、以下の目的を設定する。 This one-semester course is compulsory for second-year students. Overall Objectives 1. To increase academic vocabulary 2. To automatize more accurate grammatical knowledge and recognize cohesive devices 3. To develop a better understanding of various styles and purposes of reading material 4. To develop effective reading skills (intensive reading, extensive reading, etc.) 5. To read some outside readers which they can read without using a dictionary
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	様々な内容の英文を読みながら、英文を正確に理解する力をつけると同時に、それぞれの内容に関して自分の考えを表明できるようなクリティカル・リーディングを行う。そして、小グループを作り、それぞれの考えを紹介しながら学生相互の批評を行い(ピア・アセスメント）、アクティブラーニングの形式をとる。 プレゼンテーションに関しては、評価基準にもとづいてその場でフィードバックを行う。 対面授業を基本とするが、新型コロナウィルスの状況によっては、オンデマンド配信型遠隔授業に切り替える可能性もある。
事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	授業前に各トピックに関する英文を読み、単語や熟語の下調べをしておくこと。授業後は、学んだ単語や熟語を例文と一緒に覚え、次週のミニテストに備えること。事前学習・事後学習、それぞれ１時間が目安。

評価方法 ／Evaluation	毎回のミニテスト5点×10回＝50点、中間プレゼン15点×2回＝30点、最終プレゼン20点。 なお、評価においては、授業で学んだことを実際の場面に応用できることを重視します。
