授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	This one-semester course is compulsory for second-year students. Overall Objectives 1. To increase academic vocabulary and to further the development of vocabulary/vocabulary building skills in general 2. To automatize more accurate grammatical knowledge and recognize cohesive devices 3. To develop a better understanding of various styles and purposes of reading material 4. To develop effective reading skills (intensive reading, extensive reading, etc.) 5. To introduce students to authentic texts/outside readers
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	アクティブ・ラーニングの手法に基づき、Manabaをフルに活用した学習者中心の「資料・課題配信型授業」が展開されます。単位修得のためには、活発な授業参加が必須です。リーディングのクラスではありますが、「書き方を知っている人は、読むのが圧倒的に早い」という前提のもと、ライティングの基礎固めを徹底します。受講生が提出する全ての課題において、受講生間のピア・アセスメントまたは教員によるフィードバックが行われます。また、リーディングによって得られる多くの情報を概念的に整理するのに役立つ、コンセプトマップのつくり方を修得していただきます。
事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	受講生は、すべてのコース資料を読み、タスクを着実にこなす必要があります。授業参加時間以外に、毎週約１時間の事前・事後学修が必要です。

評価方法 ／Evaluation	1．小エッセー（400 words）（20%）：修正を少なくとも２度行うことで、英語読解力を高めるために必要な英文の基本的ルールの理解を定着させます。 2．プレゼンテーション（30％）：学修成果を約５分間の英語によるプレゼンテーションで示していただきます。英語で論理的に論理を組み立てる力を鍛えることが目的です。 3．個人レポート（600-800 words）（30%）：英語で論理的に思考する能力と、英文の基本的ルールの理解を確認します。 4. ピアフィードバック（20％）：他の受講生の課題へのフィードバックを継続的に行うことで、学修成果の定着を図ります。
