授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
Japanese economy has experienced great transformation in centuries. This class will examine Japanese economy and policies from theoretical and empirical perspectives, as the preparatory works for studies on International Public Policies, in spring session.
The world economies have experienced great transformation toward “globalization” in decades.This class will examine the international economies and the economic policies implemented from theoretical and empirical view points, in automn session.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
Lectures and discussions will be conducted in English. Summary PPTs and supplementary materials will be delivered at the class to assist the lectures.
履修者の英語力、経済学の知識に応じ、適宜日本語での解説も加えます。
事前・事後学修の内容
/Before After Study
事前学修:国際経済の学部レベルの知識を復習するとともに、経済英語に慣れておく。
事後学修:配布PPT等を基に講義を復習するとともに、関連トピックの研究を行う。

Introduction
The students will grasp the contents of this class.
2 History of Japanese Economy(1) The students will grasp the history of Japanese economy in  millenium perspectives.
3 History of Japanese Economy(2) The students will grasp the history of Japanese economy from Edo era to WWII.
4 Economic Growth (1) The students will understand the theories and empirical results of economic growth.
5 Economic Growth (2) The students will grasp the Japanese experience from growth to slowdown after WWII.
6 Economic Growth (3) The students will understand economic rationale why Japan stopped growing after 1970s and 90s.
7 Business Cycles and Economic Policies(1) The students will understand the theories and empirical results on business cycles.
8 Business Cycles and Economic Policies(2) The students will understand Japanese business cycles.
9 Business Cycles and Economic Policies(3) The students will understand the counter-cyclical economic  policies .
10 Public Finance and Fiscal Policies (1) The students will understand the theories and empirical results on public finance.
11 Public Finance and Fiscal Policies (2) The students will grasp the government budget and public debt in Japan.
12 Financial Markets and Monetary Policy(1) The students will understand theory and empirical results on monetary policies.
13 Financial Markets and Monetary Policy (2) The students will grasp the monetary policies and financial regulations in Japan
14 Summary and Further Discussion of spring session The important points of spring session will be summarized and further discussed.
15 【Autumn】
Introduction
The students will grasp the contents of  autumn session of this class.
16 International Trade(1) The students will understand the theories and empirical results on international trades on goods.
17 International Trade(2) The students will grasp the trade policies, the political economy, WTO, and  FTA/EPA.
18 International Finance (1) The students will understand theories and empirical results on capital flows and exchange rates.
19 International Finance (2) The students will grasp the international monetary system, including IMF and CMIM.
20 Economic Development(1) The students will overview distinguishable aspects of  the developing countries.
21 Economic Development(2) The students will grasp the theories and empirical results on economic growth and development.
22 Economic Development(3) The students will understand the concepts and theories on poverty, inequality and development.
23 Economic Development(4) The students will grasp the theories and empirical results on population, urbanization and migration
24 Economic Development (5) The students will grasp the developmental aspects on human capital, agriculture , the environment.
25 Development Assistance (1) The students will overview of the ODA (Official Development Assistance).
26 Development Assistance (2) The students will understand the importance of policy and Institution, selectivity and Japanese ODA.
27 Development Assistance (3) The students will understand what the effective development assistances are.
28 Summary and Further Discussion of autumn session The important points of autumn session will be summarized and further discussed.
