授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	本研究は、第二次世界大戦から現在に至るまでのアメリカとヨーロッパ諸国の関係の変遷を、近年出版されたテキストを教材に考察することを目的とする。第二次大戦後、グローバル・パワーとなったアメリカは、ソ連共産主義との対決、いわゆる「冷戦」時代にヨーロッパに政治・経済・軍事・文化・情報の各面で深く関与し、西ヨーロッパ諸国の復興、今日の欧州連合につながる地域統合を推進してきた。しかし、1960年代以降になると、アメリカの相対的なパワーの低下に伴い、フランスなど西ヨーロッパ諸国もアメリカからの「自立」を唱えるようになり、米欧同盟関係にも不和や摩擦が生じるようになる。また冷戦後、ソ連共産主義ブロックの崩壊によって、アメリカの対欧州外交の領域は旧共産圏の東欧諸国に拡大し、アメリカは民主化と市場経済化を積極的に推し進めた。 21世紀に入ると、イラク戦争の事例にみられるように、拡大した欧州連合は、「法の支配」といった「規範」を重視する、アメリカとは異なる国際関係へのアプローチを提示するようにもなっている。 第二次大戦後の米欧関係を事例に、本研究は、戦争、安全保障、同盟、核抑止、経済的相互依存、地域統合、国際レジーム、グローバリゼーション、介入などの国際関係における重要な概念を考察することになる。
