授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	▼ ドイツ語学科・フランス語学科・経済学部・法学部1~4年生を対象とする全カリ英語部門の選択科目です。 ▼ English Explorationsという科目では、言語や社会に関するひとつのテーマについて1学期間「英語で」学ぶことにより、テーマに関する理解を深め、英語力と思考力を伸ばします。 ▼ コンテントiiiのテーマは「Critical Thinking in English」です。Critical thinkingは毎日の生活でも重要なスキルですが、特に大学での学びと研究、さらに職業生活では不可欠な思考法です。授業では英語でCritical thinking に関する基本用語と概念を理解し、よくメディアに取り上げられるニュースや調査結果など身近な題材を使って、議論や主張とその論拠を批判的に分析する練習をします。次のアカデミック英語スキルを伸ばします。(1) academic vocabulary, (2) analytical reading and writing (3) listening, (4) discussion, and (5) group/individual presentation.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	▼ 授業活動はすべて英語です。 ▼ Zoomを使って授業時間にリアルタイム授業配信をします。第1回目授業についての連絡は、授業日前にPorTaIIに掲載しますので確認してください。授業形式や使用するオンラインツールについて詳しく説明します。 ▼ 教科書を第2回目授業から使いますので早めに購入してください。 ▼ MyDOCを使って学習活動、資料配布、課題提出をします。 ▼ TOEIC400点以上を受講生の英語力の目安としますが、積極的に英語を使い授業に参加する努力ができる学生であればその限りではありません。
事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	▼毎週、教科書の練習問題やライティングなどの宿題・課題があります（平均 60-90分）。 ▼宿題や課題の情報は、毎回の授業で指定されますので、欠席した場合も必ずMyDOCで確認し、準備した上で次の授業に参加してください。

評価方法 ／Evaluation	1. Participation (Assignments on MyDOC) 30％ 2. Research project and presentation 40％ 3. Final exam 30％ (Week 15 on MyDOC) 【重要】原則として４回以上欠席した学生は成績評価の対象となりませんので注意してください。健康上の理由やオンライン通信環境の問題、その他考慮すべき事由がある場合は、担当教員に相談してください。
