授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
The purposes of the course are to show you how to:
a) think in and communicate more effectively in modern English, using ""EQ"" (Emotional Intelligence);
b) learn about and actively discuss World Issues, from an International point of view;
c) enjoy dynamic, interesting conversations in smooth, Modern English;
d) try to understand International humor; and (hopefully) try to use such humor effectively; and
e) use grammar-checking software to check/revise your own grammar issues.

BECAUSE OF COVID-19, our class will be conducted Online, via e-mail; Online audio/video ''chat''; & assignments sent/received via Classroom portal.
*Please use your gmail address to e-mail(in ENGLISH) your teacher BEFORE October 2020,at tonydur2020@gmail.com. He will e-mail you info about how to arrange your home study setup. Every e-mail MUST include information about First Name;Last Name; School Name; Student Number; Class Day & Period; Class CODE/NAME; today's date; & REASON for your message.

Do homework assignments as soon as possible(the same day;or the next day).Waiting until the last minute to do assignments/homework (‘ichiyazuke’) is NOT a good way to prepare for classes.

*You should 'STUDY-AT-HOME',NOT use this time to do EXTRA ''arbeito'' work. Your 'job', now, is to study-NOT more ''part-time arbeito''.*FOCUS* 100% on your studies, 9AM to 5PM, Mon.-Fri. (& sometimes weekends).To FOCUS, you'll need to study with all DISTRACTIONS OFF (TV/SNS/LINE/Radio/Facebook/YouTube/manga).

/Evaluation
The instructor will use the ongoing assessment technique. You will be assessed every class, during ONLINE 'chat', on: how well you participate; how well you speak and elaborate (explain) in English; the ways in which you reason (think); how well you use the info taught to you; how well you interact with class members; etc.

Your grade will tentatively be determined by: ongoing class assessments (approx. 35%); class participation (15%); and homework/test(s)(35%); & Attendance (15%).

"How was your Summer Break?", with English pair practice.
This is a TENTATIVE schedule.The items listed may change, depending on: Pandemic problems, ETC.
2 "What do you usually do ...?" "What do you usually do ...?"": discussing and practicing some usual actions. Please participate ACTIVELY in Online classes. If you're not sure about an answer, please GUESS.
3 "What do you usually do...?", part two. "What do you usually do...?", part two...with pair practice. If you're not sure how to answer, speak up & GUESS, instead of reflexively answering "I don't know."
4 Hallowe'en history & customs. Hallowe'en: researching and discussing this seasonal 'festival'. Silence/ Not answering will be regarded as a 0% score, during Online classes.
5 Train directions, part one. How to ask for, and give, train directions, English, with 'EQ'. (Part one.) You should STUDY-AT-HOME(NOT use this time to do EXTRA "arbeito" work).Your 'job', now, is to study.
6 Train directions, part two. How to ask for, and give, train directions (Part two), with pair practice. *FOCUS* 100% on your studies, 9AM to 5PM, Monday to Friday (and sometimes weekends).
7 Song-listening/ News-listening activity. Song-listening exercise/ News-listening activity...with discusssion. To FOCUS:study with all DISTRACTIONS OFF (TV/SNS/LINE/Radio/Facebook/YouTube/manga/Smartphone/etc.).
8 Research & discussion-Thanksgiving customs, U.S.A. Research and discussion re: Thanksgiving customs in the U.S.A./Canada. Waiting until the last minute to do assignment/homework(ichiyazuke) is NOT a good way to study/learn
