授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	This course aims to learn discussion principles and increase discussion skills, including expression your opinions, supporting your opinions with reasons and examples, explaining your opinions, listening to others’ opinions, interrupting appropriately, asking for clarification, summarizing and restating information, etc. All these will be practiced in small groups and pairs while talking about current events and issues.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	We learn to discuss meaningfully only through lots of focuses practice. Students will sometimes present topics they have researched during the week and then lead a discussion of a few minutes with the other students in the small group contributing their own input. Other times students will research assigned topics and take turns leading discussion groups. Discussions will be followed by a debriefing analysis and critique. The online conferencing tool Zoom will be used for class meetings
