/Course Objectives
This class will use Zoom online, for our class meeting, and Dokkyo University's Bulletin Board.
Students are required to be on Zoom during regular class time.    For those students with concerns/issues, please consult with the instructor.

The aim of this reading course is to investigate the uniquely Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi, and to provide an opportunity for students to discuss it in depth.  When we set out to define wabi sabi, it soon becomes
clear that there is no one working definition of it.  Rather it is a vague concept that (1) originates out of the
Japanese mind set; (2) has a place everyday life; and (3) can provide us with a sense of guidance in daily
life.  The course will center on reading the text, attending to lectures and discussing the topics presented.
