授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This course will take students from paragraph structuring to essay writing through a process approach. Areas covered will include generating ideas, organizing, drafting, reviewing  

In addition to regular homework assignments, students will be expected to produce a number of printed reports on subjects of their own choosing. It is necessary to have access to a computer  as hand-written assignments will not be accepted.

In addition to regular attendance, students must bring a dictionary to class each week, if possible, an electronic one.
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
Various writing skills will be covered week by week, using the text book. Relevant grammatical patterns will also be practiced in preparation for the subsequent report.
Students will be free to choose their own topics on which to write, and will be able to brainstorm ideas & supporting points, and construct an outline, during class time. However, the report & outline will be completed as homework and be expected to be printed and handed to the instructor at the following class.
