Developing fluency and well-structured paragraphs is the main focus of this course. However, students should also practice writing for sentence/grammar accuracy, at the same time.

Overall Objectives
1. To teach the various patterns of paragraph /short essay organization;
2. To help students learn how others organize ideas, through peer review;
3. To help students write clear, focused, and well organized paragraphs/essays;
4. To help students analyze their problems and revise their own writing; and
5. To help students become familiar with computer literacy and grammar-correction software.

/Evaluation
Students will be assessed often--the 'ongoing assessment technique'. Your assessment will be based on: how well you write/edit/re-write/submit written assignments; how well you participate in class; how well you elaborate (explain) in English sentences/paragraphs; the ways in which you reason (think); & how well you research (& cite/reference) source material.
Your grade will tentatively be determined by: class assignments (approximately 65%); class participation (20%); & class attendance (15%).
