授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This one-term required class teaches second-year students how to read more effectively and then presents them with the opportunity to share their ideas and opinions successfully in group and class discussions while working with topical subjects.
Overall Objectives
1. To teach students the skills involved in effective group discussion
2. To improve reading comprehension skills using topical reading material
3. To develop verbal reasoning skills together with the ability and opportunity to communicate their thoughts related to the topics and readings provided
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
This course is primarily taught in English and encourages the development of critical thinking skills using individual, pair,and small-group work, using various materials, offline&online,as well as collaborative mobile tools (i.e. smartphones, tablet PCs, etc.).As our classes will be online mode, kindly make sure you have Internet access at least during our class. It would also help if you have Zoom/Webex accounts. In addition,I might request you to make a Gmail account for our Google Classroom.
事前・事後学修の内容
/Before After Study
All students are expected to:
- Read assigned texts before lesson.
- Prepare notes before class in order to actively participate in small group discussions.
- Complete writing assignments by the date due.
- Review all lesson work.
- Be able to participate in online class and forum discussions.
- Set aside 30 minutes for homework and class preparation, more time may be needed for evaluations
