授業の目的・内容
/Course Objectives
This one-semester course is compulsory for second-year students.
Overall Objectives
1. To increase academic vocabulary and to further the development of vocabulary/vocabulary building skills in general
2. To automatize more accurate grammatical knowledge and recognize cohesive devices
3. To develop a better understanding of various styles and purposes of reading material
4. To develop effective reading skills (intensive reading, extensive reading, etc.)
5. To introduce students to authentic texts/outside readers
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
This course is taught in English.
Classes will be conducted using the textbook listed below. Students are required to purchase the textbook before the first class from stores such as the university bookstore DUO.
This semester, Porta II and University Web-Mail System will be used as the essential tools of communication. Students are expected to prepare an appropriate Internet environment to use these tools constantly.
事前・事後学修の内容
/Before After Study
Students are expected to prepare for each class by reviewing relevant materials provided by the instructor. Each week, new instructions will be given by the instructor. Students are expected to follow the instructions carefully, and engage in relevant activities and exercises. Further details will be provided by the instructor in the first class.
