授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	This one-semester course is compulsory for first-year students. Overall Objectives 1. To increase their vocabulary and strategies for grasping meaning of vocabulary in texts 2. To review grammar and cohesive devises 3. To develop basic reading skills and strategies (pre-reading, during reading and after　reading strategies) 4. To develop comprehension strategies to understand reading materials without　translating them into Japanese 5. To clarify the structure of a paragraph or essay (dependent on the level of the students)
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	クラスのMLでもお知らせしたとおり、zoomを使用します。g数字＠dokkyo.ac.jpでのアカウントを作成してください。授業zoomへの参加についてはMLで説明します。教材は事前にPortaにアップします。
事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	教材は事前にPortaにアップするので、必ず事前学習を行うこと。授業内に理解できなかったことは、事後学習で解決すること。

1	Introduction	授業への導入（Say Hello! + オンライン授業の説明）
2	Preliminary reading	authentic textを読んでみよう。
3	TOEFL reading – Spatial order/Chronological order	タイプ別の文章を読む。今回は描写文とストーリー(4,6,7回めには別のタイプの文章を）。
4	TOEFL reading – Scientific article+Quiz1	科学的内容の文を中心に。
5	Rapid Reading(今後の自己学習のために）	WPMをチェックしたのち、多読学習について説明します。
6	TOEFL reading –Pros and Cons	物語りを中心に。
7	Academic Reading (Intro)	Globalization and Coffeeをトピックに、一定の知識を前提としたアカデミックな文章の特徴を学ぶ。
8	Academic Reading (Development) ＋Quiz 2	７回目の続き。本格的な議論への展開の仕方をみていく。
9	Academic Reading (Conclusion)	８回目の続き。議論のまとめ方をみてみる。
10	Online Library Seminar	検索方法を紹介し、実際にやってみましょう。
11	Famous Speech	有名なスピーチを聞いて読んで、修辞について考えよう。
12	秋学期の教材紹介。＋Quiz 3	秋学期の教材（夏休み中に読んでおく）の紹介とまとめのミニテスト
